Position Description

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the design and review of MSV Life financial strategy.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the production of yearend financial accounts.

–      Liaises with MSV Life external and internal auditors.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the production of statutory accounts.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the drafting of monthly Management Accounts relating and the interpretation of results.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of monthly forecast financial behaviour and its interpretation.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of the MSV Life budget and financial plan.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of background work related to quarterly Budget Re-base-lining meetings

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the review, updating, and implementation of existing internal accounting systems and in introducing new systems and controls where appropriate.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the development and review of policy and procedure manuals for the Finance Department.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the reconciliation of all work related to the Finance Department.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to recording all transactions related to the Finance Department.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to technical specialised work required for the closing off of the monthly accounts.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of accounts related to Growth Investments Ltd including but not limited to:

–      Preparation of client purchases and redemption accounts.

–      Preparation of Managers Box payments and receipts accounts.

–      Bank reconciliation for client and corporate accounts.

–      Reconciliation of dividends payable to clients.

–      Valuation of MSV Life investments.

–      Issuance of cheques with regards to client redemptions, corporate expenditure and client dividends.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to maintaining of the computerised accounting software and assists in the setting outing of functional requirements for enhancements where appropriate.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to monitoring of all MSV Life expenditure and within delegated parameters suspends payment pending direction following escalation.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to maintaining of the cashbooks for third party life insurance products and others as appropriate.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to maintaining of the General Ledger, setting up new accounts and cost centres.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to reconciling of control accounts.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to ensuring the correct allocation of expenditure to cost centres.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to processing accurately all supplier invoices and ensures payments in accordance to MSV Life credit terms.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to reconciling of all maturity, benefits and death claims arising from clients and processes cheques and ensures that these are forwarded to the Operations Department within established service parameters.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to reconciling of all sales arising from the Operations Department, intermediaries, Point of Sales et al and raises sales invoices as appropriate.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to reconciling of all commissions payable to intermediaries, et al and records as appropriate.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to managing the implementation of debt management policy, directive and guidelines and ensures enforcement of these policies.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to monitoring of debt management performance against targets and takes appropriate action.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to managing all MSV Life bank accounts including credit cards and ensures that adequate funds are available to meet expenditure requirements.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to  ensuring that excess funds are earning a reasonable rate of return.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the management of currency hedging.

–      Liaises as appropriate with MSV Life’s banks.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to completing the quarterly VAT returns and provides advice on compliance with VAT regulations as necessary.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of tax returns and tax computations for MSV Life and subsidiary holdings.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to generation of the monthly payroll run (including the relevant PAYE, National Insurance contributions).

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of regulatory reporting and returns to appropriate regulatory authorities such as the Malta Financial Services Authority and the Central Bank.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to the preparation of reporting and returns to shareholders.

–      Performs work as assigned with regards to developing and preparing ad hoc reports with the Finance Department or for other Departments within MSV Life.

–       Mentors staff members as appropriate.

–       Serves as a resource for other team members and units within the Department.

–      Attends briefings and meetings as necessary.

Consultation

–      Coordinates with the External Auditor.

–      Coordinates with Growth Investments Ltd.

–      Coordinates with the Investments Department.

–      Coordinates with the Actuary Department Coordinates with the MFSA.

–      Coordinates with the Central Bank.

–      Coordinates with the Inland Revenue Department.

–      Coordinates with the VAT Department.

Self-Improvement

–      Keeps abreast with developments in the financial market.

–      Keeps abreast with good practice in financial management.

Other

–      Performs any other job-related duties as necessary or as assigned.

Supervision Received

–      Direct supervision and guidance from the Chief Financial Officer or the Senior Executive, Finance as the case may be.

Working Conditions

–      May be required to work outside office hours in crises situations and / or to meet deadlines.

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum years experience.

3 years

Tertiary education in Finance or related discipline or equivalent professional qualification 

Mandatory

Working towards a certification as an ACCA.

Or

Committed to undertake further studies as may be required for the adequate performance of the assigned duties and responsibilities.
